There aren’t many types of guinea pig but there are some rules. If you get a guinea pig make sure to get at least 2 that are the same gender (remember: boy guinea pigs may fight). Guinea pigs are adults when they are 6 months old.
Guinea pigs can learn some tricks. They can learn how to spin around in a circle, stand on their hind legs (penguin), and some people say their guinea pigs can understand them—but we know that’s not true.
Guinea pigs love all sorts of veggies and some fruits too. Their favorite veggies are lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, kale, celery, bell pepper, and broccoli. Their favorite fruits are apples, bananas, and tomatoes. They also enjoy Timothy and Orchard hay, as well as pellets and a full water bottle.
Guinea pigs are those fun, bedroom-loving rodents. I bet if you get some you’ll love them right away.
